“mothers need just as much
attention as a newborn,
because they too
have just been born”

What does a postpartum doula provide?

Sunset Doula Services provides support for new parents in the early days of transitioning to parenthood or integrating a new life into the family.

Our goal is to provide the support your family needs. Postpartum services can include lactation and feeding support and education, babywearing support, newborn care and education, and just general tidying up and doing what needs to be done to keep the home running smoothly.

This may come in the form of any/all of the following:

Emotional Support. A postpartum doula is a skilled caregiver trained to support new mothers during the early weeks and months after giving birth.

Physical Support. Postpartum doulas “mother the new mother,” helping her emotionally and physically recover from childbirth and helping her transition to life with a newborn.

Informational Support. She also provides evidenced-based information for new parents, helping them with their new parent questions and assisting with infant feeding and soothing, breastfeeding, and newborn care.

Family Support. In addition to this, she is on hand to take care of household chores such as laundry, meal prep, and sibling care, giving the new mother time to rest and bond with her new baby.

Research shows that new families have a much easier time with the transition if a good support team is in place.

Sunset Doula Services would love to be part of your team.
